COVID-19: Interfaith Youth Creating Awareness using Murals

By Desnah Bittok

The youth have been perceived as a weak link in the community which is in not the case for the Interfaith Youth Network who came together on 11th June 2020 for the community Covid-19 awareness campaigns. They ensured that a great population in Mombasa’s old town was reached and educated on the Covid-19 virus preventive measure.

The Mombasa old town is one of the most hit centers by Covid-19 in the Country which led to a lockdown of the town to curb the spread of Covid-19 across Mombasa County.

The Youth distributed masks and sanitizers to the community members of the Old Town and also promoted the value of interfaith relations as we are all part of the puzzle in the fight of Covid-19.

Inter-Religious Council of Kenya, Interfaith Youth network in Mombasa in partnership with Mensen met een Missie (MM) and Kenya Community Support Centre (KECOSCE) had a community sensitization on the Corona Virus. The event was to enable youth to pass the correct information on the pandemic and emphasis on the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health.

The responsibility lies within every one of us.
